FAQ

Q: What is the beach/ocean like?

A: It's called Sandy Beach, it's Rincón's most famous beach, and it's awesome! The strip of sand between our property and the ocean's edge is generally 50-100 feet deep, and the beach runs for miles to the east.

As for the ocean, the answer mostly depends on the season. In the summer, the water generally lays quite flat and is good for swimming, rafting, stand-up paddleboarding, etc. In winter - and to a lesser extent, fall and spring - we receive pretty regular swell that produces great surfing waves; click here for a link to an area surf map. The bottom is perfectly sandy, with very little rock or reef.

Q: Can I host an event?

A: No. We do not allow parties or events involving non-guests.

Q: Can I bring an animal?

A: No. Our building's management has a strict no animal policy. This applies to all animals, including Emotional Support Animals.

Q: Where's Villa Cuqui located?

A: Click here to see us on Google Maps.

Most familiar with the region would agree that the "Puntas" area is Rincón's heart-and-soul. At that soul sits the legendary beachfront bar, Tamboo. We're located approximately 500 feet from Tamboo, a 2-3 minute walk down the beach.

Q: What 'hidden amenities' are provided?

A: There's an assortment of amenities that don't appear in photos:

★ Gated parking for two vehicles, parked tandem ★ A/C throughout ★ High-speed WiFi ★ Washer and dryer ★ Extra linens ★ Beach towels ★ Beach chairs ★ Pack N Play ★ Hair dryer ★ Liquid hand and dish soaps ★ A "starter supply" of essentials: mini shampoos & conditioners (2 each), bar soap (2), toilet paper (4), paper towel (1), cleaning sponge (1)

Q: What's the weather like?

A: Click here to see our monthly temperature and rainfall averages.

Aside from the averages, there are two weather patterns dependable enough to warrant further explanation. First, the winter sees an abundance of surf, energy that generally originates from storms far north in the Atlantic. Second, many summer days see a mid-afternoon storm lasting a few hours. This is a convenient time for a siesta, relaxing in a hammock, etc. Most days see an abundance of sun sandwiched around the fairly brief shower.

Q: Which airport?

A: There are two primary flight options, plus a hybrid third option:

(1) Villa Cuqui is a 35 minute drive to/from Aguadilla (BQN) airport, and so if you can do it, that's the obvious choice. But Aguadilla's limited routes and odd flight times (think: 2-3 a.m.) can be deterrents for some.

(2) San Juan (SJU) airport offers dozens of daily flights, but is a 2 - 2.5 hour drive to Villa Cuqui.

(3) If San Juan's flight options are appealing but the drive to Rincón is not, consider adding a 40 minute flight from SJU to Mayaguez (MAZ) via Cape Air. From Mayaguez, it's just a 30 minute drive to Villa Cuqui.

Q: Do I need a car?

A: We absolutely recommend renting a car, as public transportation is all but non-existent and things are pretty spread out. That said, you could survive without a car, as there are several restaurants within walking distance and surf right out back! It's just that you'd likely miss many of the area's attractions, whether it be the farmer's markets, the famous Art Walk, the many great area restaurants that are close but a bit beyond walking distance, and so on. There are taxis available for hire, but scheduled pickup is necessary.
